So, the other day, I attended my first musical production on the west end, after months and months of waiting, which was Les Miserables. And to be completely honest, it is probably one of the best things I have seen in my short span of life.
There are people out there, who know nothing of musical theatre and have no want to, and to them, I say, you are seriously missing out. Granted, some people are just uncultured swines and bat away any thought of watching something like a ‘musical’ as they have gained a inherently ‘gay’ culture, despite the fact they are not. You do not have to be homosexual to see a musical. I agree, the music isn’t what most people are used to (I.E it doesn’t have a dubstep remix), it is so much better than that.
I am not afraid to admit that I was almost in tears several times during the production, as it is such an emotional story.
Now, in 6 months time, Les Miserables is being released into the cinema, with an all star cast, and yes, it will be amazing, but I am thoroughly looking forward to seeing all the people who have never batted a lid to it before, start professing their love for musicals after seeing the film adaptation, which will never hold a candle to the west end production.
I am just so sad to see the lack of people from my generation getting involved and enjoying musical theatre. If only they understood the whole new world they are missing out on. Such a shame.

Each to their own is a phrase I feel I will be using a lot in this blog as I always seem to have an opposing view.
Anyhow, each to their own and what not, but the music of the 21st century, is just slightly depressing for several reasons.
1) What the hell is dubstep? And why is it constantly imposing itself on my fragile ears. Is it not bad enough they already butchered original rock music into the feebleness it is today, but now they must take a perfectly normal song and put a million beats behind it which sounds terrible, and force it upon everyone?
2) Why does every song (well perhaps not every song) have no meaning anymore? Where has the reasons behind music gone? It used to be the point of musicians to gain popularity by producing music that was appeasing to people by using lyrics which they could relate to. Nowadays I hear more songs about the ‘ghetto’ and ‘dat bitch’ than any other. It is quite ludicrous.

Was told this quote the other day, and I loved it because it sums up how people should be acting in regards to our human rights, but generally do not. A sad world we live in.
Since progressing to University, I have discovered many things. For one, the amount of people studying absolutely pointless degrees is mind blowing. Now I realise I have only just completed my first year here and to say that I understand everything about the dynamics of this place (Keele university) would be a total lie. But, when people chat with me, and profess how hard their degree courses are to them, when they are studying something like american studies, I am just like, what the hell. They have no idea. I understand, each to there own, people choose courses that suit what they have in mind to do with their lives, but the amount of people leaving universities with bachelors of whatever course they were studying and then undertake a career path completely unrelated, it makes you consider why we bother. Are these people merely undertaking degrees to displace the need to get a job and actually grow up? Because, I have met people with degrees in history, sociology, media, the list goes on, and I find myself asking them the stereotypical question asked of most graduates with no career plan, ‘Can I get a coffee please?’ People of this generation just have no plans in mind when it comes to their choice in degrees and so just take one they hope will interest them, which while not being a bad plan, is not a sustainable one, considering the amount of graduates who are jobless or in jobs completely unrelated to their choice.
